Suppose you are given a problem such as this:
You can enter the x and y values into your graphing calculator and use its linear regression function. Or you can use an online calculator such as GraphPad Quick Calcs Linear Regression Calculator
- Enter the years as the x-values.
- Enter the number of tickets as the y-values.
- Then select the Calculate Now button.
The calculator will display the linear equation of the line that best fits the data. It will also show you the "R square" value. Take the square root of "R square" in order to find "R", which is the correlation coefficient.
